This month's nature walk will be at Cape May Point State Park! The park has a beautiful blend of coastal dunes, marshland, and forest habitats.
We'll be meeting at the start of the yellow trail on the far side of the main parking lot near the bird viewing platform at 1pm and walking about 3 miles on a mix of sandy trails, boardwalks, and forest trails. It will likely be cold and windy so be sure to dress in warm layers with a good coat on top.
**Cold weather layering tips:
Wear synthetic fabrics like acrylic, polyester, etc as a base layer closest to your skin with several layers on top that can be wool, wool blend, cotton blend, etc.
Never wear cotton as a base layer as it holds moisture to your skin and can increase your chance of hypothermia in cold weather.
Don't forget to also wear a warm hat, gloves, warm socks, and a scarf or something to keep your neck warm- protecting your extremities is important in cold weather.
If you have sensitive sinuses consider also wearing a cloth face mask/face covering as it can help warm up the air as you breathe and prevent sinus inflammation.
